Green Transformation Collaboration: Industry and Academia Hand in Hand Event


The project event, coordinated by Hitit University Technology Transfer Office Inc. within the scope of the SEE BRIDGE Project funded by the HORIZON EUROPE PROGRAM, was held on May 22-23. The event, held at Çorum Technopark, included a series of conferences, panels, and workshops.

On the first day, Dr. Mustafa Seyrek, Coordinator of the International Office at Hitit University, provided information on international project opportunities such as Horizon Europe, Green Deal, and EEN; an expert from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change spoke about Green Transformation and Circular Economy; and Hitit University academics discussed Carbon Footprint, Industry-Academia Joint Project Opportunities, and collaborations. On the second day, an expert from TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) shared detailed information on Public Support Opportunities within the Green Transformation, and Halit Sıddık Tonkuş, Director of KOSGEB (Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization) Çorum Provincial Directorate, and Tuğba Purtul Kılıç, Provincial Coordinator of OKA (Central Anatolia Development Agency) Çorum Investment Support Office, also provided detailed information on Public Support Opportunities within the Green Transformation. The final session of the event featured a panel discussion on Successful Industrial Examples. Duduoğlu Çelik Döküm San. Tic. A.Ş., Makenas - Makine ve Enerji A.Ş., and Alapala Makina Gıda San. ve Tic. A.Ş. shared their success stories in Sustainable Production Practices with the participants. Organized by Hitit University Technology Transfer Office (Hitit TTO A.Ş.), the event addressed the adaptation of Çorum's heavy metal industry to the green transformation process, compliance with EU waste legislation, reduction of carbon footprint, and sustainability issues. TTO A.Ş. Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgür Özdilli, Deputy Director Burcu Kabakdere, Entrepreneurship Module Coordinator Lecturer Dr. Selma Nacak, and Lecturer Dr. İlknur Tüfekçi played active roles in the event. Speaking at the event was TTO A.Ş. Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgür Özdilli, who, reminding that the Republic of Turkey has set a net-zero emissions target for 2053 and ratified the Paris Agreement, stated, “In line with this, it is planned to enact a national climate law and establish an emissions trading system by 2030. These targets necessitate taking steps in line with the European Union Green Deal. Furthermore, aligning production processes with EU policies is of great importance for accessing EU funds.” Expressing that Hitit TTO A.Ş. is aware of its responsibilities and stands alongside industrialists in this transformation process, Özdilli concluded his remarks by saying, “We would like to thank, first and foremost, the Rector of Hitit University, Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Öztürk, other public institution representatives, and the industrialists of Çorum for their support in making this event a reality.”
